DNA Structure Activity Print and Digital (PPT & Slides)

Still teaching online and also in the classroom? Want a product that can easily work for both teaching methods? This resource has BOTH a remote learning-friendly drag-and-drop activity (in BOTH PPT and Slides files) PLUS a print version of the same activity for in-person students. All versions of the activity are IDENTICAL and are an incredibly engaging and visual way to introduce the structure of DNA. A teacher key is included for all three versions!

Virtual Version

These are informative/instructional slides that review the structure of a nucleotide, base-pairing rules, and structure of DNA and which shapes will represent each part. Using drag-and-drop functionality, students will first construct individual nucleotides, then create nucleotides matched to their corresponding bases using the base-pairing rules, and finally, creating a single- and double-stranded section of a DNA molecule.

Print/Paper Version

The first page includes the same information as the first two slides of the virtual version. On the second page, students will draw the individual nucleotides instead. After reading more information about the base-pairing rules, students will draw the nucleotides with their respective pair. The final page gives students enough space to draw a 5 nucleotide long double-stranded DNA molecule.
