Human Feedback Loops Homeostasis Regulation Student Stations & Digital Activity

This is a differentiated PPT and Printable PDF activity that will introduce students to negative and positive feedback loops, help them understand the importance of maintaining homeostasis, glucose regulation, water concentration regulation, body temperature control, and calcium regulation in the human body.

Meet the unique needs of your school's current learning environment and meet all your learners where they are with two versions of the same activity available in both print and digital versions.

 All versions include a brief overview of the feedback loop and a diagram to label. The original version explains the role of each organ/system in maintaining homeostasis in the feedback loop. The modified version identifies which organ is the sensor, control center, and effector. Each version also has its own comprehension questions based on the information given; the original version includes an extension question for gifted students or early finishers.

In the printable version students will be given a short explanation of the feedback loop, the parts involved, and how the body responds if the body deviates above or below the set value. Given the information, students will label a diagram of the feedback loop (organs, their function, and identify the sensor, control center, and effector) followed by comprehension questions on a second page

In the digital version, each feedback loop is described on a slide. Students are asked to drag-and-drop the organ and its role in the feedback loop on a second slide with a diagram. Subsequent slides include the comprehension questions with ready-made text boxes for students to write their responses. The PPT is also differentiated as described above. The comprehension questions in the PPT are editable on the MASTER SLIDE so you can rewrite and adjust to your needs. Please note: the printable version is a PDF and is NOT editable.
